Darfur. A place were genocide runs rampant, political motives unruly and people die from violence, hunger and disease every day. But there is hope, it shows in the faces of the of people who gather together in camps numbering in their 10’s of 1000’s. These are sporadically located across the Western Darfur provence and into adjoining countries. Hope is everything they have, that and the services of the NGO’s who selflessly put their lives at risk and endure extreme conditions to help others.
It wasn’t easy picking just a handful of images, so I loaded a lot. Each one to me has its own emotive story about it. Hopefully in the near future I’ll be able to write about my visit to Darfur and the inspiration I aquired from working with the doctors, assistants and volunteers of the various NGO’s working their to bring humanity to place that lost just this a very long time ago.
Its a pity there’s so much media fuss going on with Iraq and Afghanistan, as places like Darfur simply tend to get swept under the carpet and their story not heard loud enough, if at all. Shame, very, very big shame….
